I am OBSESSED with copper.
And I’m searching for ways to introduce these stunning metallics to our home decor. So imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon THESE gorgeous copper planters from the very clever Jenni of I Spy DIY. I couldn’t get to Home Depot fast enough to buy the 2 inch copper caps needed for this simple project. But sadly, this is not a stock item at Home Depot. Or at Lowes. Or my local hardware store, for that matter. But you know who has em? The plumbing supply store down the street. At $12 a pop. And while I despise waiting, I wasn’t about to spend $36 on copper caps alone.
So I ordered a few on Amazon for myself and Sara over at Shabby Grace Blog. She was just as geeked as I was when she saw the Copper Succulent Planters on I Spy DIY (note: I bought them for $4.89 a piece and today, the cost is double. FYI).
When the copper caps arrived, they needed a little TLC. I mixed a concoction of just enough lemon juice + salt to form a paste. I spread a generous layer over the caps and let it sit a minute or two. Then I scrubbed my worries away, rinsed the paste off and shined them up like a new penny!
All you need to create these beauties are 2 inch copper caps + succulents + white gravel (you can find white gravel at the Pet Store or online). For the full tutorial, check out I Spy DIY’s post here.
Didn’t they come out just gorgeous? Thanks for the inspiration, Jenni! We love them!
