Valentine’s Day is next weekend, you guys! Are you ready?!
Heart shaped boxes and chocolates tempt me at every store.
And I’m a sucker for chocolate.
But one candy in particular has a very special place in my heart, not so much for the taste of it but for pure nostalgia: the good ole conversation heart.
Love bug. Sweet pea. Sweet stuff. The messages are as fun and frivolous as the sayings on those Taco Bell sauce packets. Whenever I pick up a box, I’m immediately transported back to elementary school, trading special valentines with the kids in class. Didn’t you just love getting all those valentines?!
So I’m serving up a bowl of nostalgia over here on the Pig and Rabbit with a recipe I found on Pinterest: Conversation Heart Popcorn. I love the combination of sweet and salty and it’s just so dang pretty! I like the hearts mostly for the eye candy (I’d rather eat the chocolate drizzled popcorn).
All you need is … love, haha, and conversation hearts, Ghirardhelli white chocolate chips, food coloring and of course, popcorn (we made ours on the stovetop).
