In my office, the following poem inspires as it sits proudly on the top rung of my ladder bookcase:
Be kind to the wishers
who haven’t got wishes.
Be kind to the fishers
who haven’t got fishes.
Be kind to the beginners
who haven’t got ends.
Be kind to the strangers
who haven’t got friends.
Be kind to the walkers
who haven’t a shoe.
Be kind to the talkers
who haven’t a clue.
Be kind to the outsiders
and insiders too.
Be kind to the kind
kept confined in the zoo.
Be kind in your mind
and in all that you do
and you’ll find
that mankind
can be kind to you too!
I discovered the author of this poem, Dallas Clayton through Brené Brown and was immediately smitten by his work. I bought An Awesome Book and An Awesome Book of Thanks for the Pig and I and for my awesome nieces and nephews. The books make awesome gifts for kids young and old and are filled with beautiful messages and whimsical images.
If you’d like to hang this poem in one of your favorite spaces, you can find it here. There’s much to discover so take your time and enjoy the site!

Hi, there. Davey & Melissa here, aka the Pig and the Rabbit respectively. Welcome to our burrow. Pull up a tree stump and we’ll spin the hours talking about food, photography and other things pertaining to the universe.
